Highlights of Month 7

Alright, seeing as Abigail is 8 months now, I should get on with the 7 month highlights! And now that I have purchased more space with Google, you will continue to get all those cute pictures!

Month 7 saw some exciting milestones for Abigail. She started crawling, babbling "baba" and "mama", and pulling herself to stand! She has also figured out how to get her arms out and around the car seat straps as soon as we unbuckle her to help get herself out. It seems really early for her to "get" that skill, but then again, this is the girl who screamed at the top of her lungs every time we put her in the car seat for the first few weeks! It is so fun watching her learn and grow, though sometimes we want to tell her to just sit back down and stop growing so fast!

"Hmm, I backed myself into a corner. How did that happen, and more importantly, how do I get out of here?"

Abigail also enjoyed her first Halloween (see post here). She has also decided that solid food isn't so bad (although neither the solid food nor the mobility has hit a home run in the sleep department as many - and trust me, no one more than Claude and me - hoped it might!). She is also a big girl and holds her own bottle on Fridays when Claude is home with her.

Month 7 was also our first month of "normal" will all of our very helpful parents gone. It has certainly been an adjustment, but we have enjoyed establishing some routines together, and Claude and I are enjoying spending time together in the evenings now that Abigail goes to bed around 7 or so. And we are very grateful to all the lovely friends at church who are willing to come hang out with her so we can get some date nights out!

This is a fun little series of the many faces of Abigail - sorry for the blurry ones - she moves so fast!

This outfit was mine when I was a baby!

Abigail also experienced her first snow this month!

Monthly Photos - 7 Months

Sorry for the delay - we were traveling for Thanksgiving, so the blog posts are a little behind schedule!

Here is the 7 month shot and a few bonus ones because they were too cute not to share!

Goblin or gobblin'?

We had several Halloween adventures this year - aka play dress up with Abigail!

We stopped by the gym for their Halloween party and then to Amma for theirs and to say hi to my New Mama class friends, none of whom we got to see! But we got some cute pics of Abigail!

Sunday was the annual All Saints Eve party and costume contest at church. Abigail won the prize for the most adorable little giraffe ever!

And on the actual day itself, we put her in her "My first Halloween" onesie courtesy of Grandma Rae, for daycare.

On another note, we have continued to offer her solids, and there have now been a couple of times that I think she actually swallowed something! I baked up some sweet potato "fries" that she actually figured out was food and was edible, though not without significant hesitation. We also gave her avocado slices, which seem to be the winner - that is, when she can keep it in her grasp (slippery little things!). All in all, we may be doing less of the purée thing. The past few weeks, her dislike of solids may have been related to the newness or not yet knowing how to process the food once it hit her mouth, but I have to wonder if it may also be a bit of the strong-willedness of our little miss Abigail that she prefers being in control, which she is when we give her chunks of food to gnaw on.

"Uh oh! Some of that stuff actually made it into my mouth! Now what?"

Then, last night, I was mashing up some roasted garlic to make garlic butter, and Abigail was playing on the kitchen floor, so I decided to do a little taste test. I put a little on my finger and put it in her mouth. She looked confused at first, but then grabbed my finger to put it back in her mouth! She then got distracted by the whisk (best.baby.toy.ever). Later, when Claude and I were enjoying our baguette slices with garlic butter, she again grabbed my hand and brought it to her mouth and sucked on my bread. Looks like she may have also been protesting the blandness of the foods we tried to give her!
